Malcolm X at his last formal speech, at Barnard College, February 18, 1965.

“It is incorrect to classify the revolt of the Negro as simply a radical conflict of black against white or as a purely American problem. Rather, we are today seeing a global rebellion of the oppressed against the oppressor, the exploited against the exploiter.”

You know, I think one of the worst feelings is finding out that you didn’t mean as much to someone as you thought you did, and you just feel stupid, and because you looked desperate, about caring too much.

Honestly, the fact that schools let people graduate without doing internships is wild to me. That shit should be required

Get academic credit and learn what its like to look for an entry position in your field

truth bomb. I dunno if I got any…

Absolutey. The best advice I ever got was “get something out of it” and if you’re not getting credits, paid, or tangible work to show folks, its a waste of time

I never interned because I thought it was a waste of my time. Working since I was 14 put me in the mindset that working for free is a ludicrous idea. I don’t think I need experience in finding an entry level position when I can just graduate and actually go find an entry level position. I read an article the other day on the increase in internship opportunities and the lack of interns, I think businesses are using interns as a way of NOT hiring graduates. Why pay someone, when you can get someone else who is 12 credits away from being “qualified” for a position to do it for free. I know people who busted their asses at internships who are still not working and others who got entry level positions out of their internships. Maybe it’s just what you make of it but, I’ll wait until I get my degree and see if not interning bites me in the ass.
